Pepperoni Pizza Dip

Appetizers are what’s for dinner! Not every night at our house, but usually when we’re watching a good SEC game on Saturday night. I’ve been making this pepperoni pizza dip for years during football season. This easy, cheesy dip is a no frills recipe sure to tantalize the taste buds. Fritos scoops are my vehicle of choice to serve with this hot dip. I’m sure crostini would pair well with it too.

Dips should be easy to make, and this one definitely is. Hotty Toddy and Roll Tide. I’m so glad SEC football has returned, along with all the game day comfort food we are all accustomed to.

Appetizers are what’s for dinner! Well, not every night at our house, but usually when we’re watching a good SEC game on Saturday night. I’ve been making this pepperoni pizza dip for years during football season. This easy, cheesy dip is a no frills recipe sure to tantalize the taste buds. Fritos scoops are my vehicle of choice to serve with this hot dip. I’m sure crostini would pair well with it too.

Ingredients

  • 8oz block of cream cheese, at room temp.
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper
  • 3/4 cup marinara
  • 1 3.5oz package of pepperoni, divided
  • 2 slices cooked bacon, chopped
  • 1/3 cup chopped green onion, divided
  • 1 cup shredded Italian cheese blend
  • 1/4 cup shredded or shaved Parmesan

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F. Spray a 10” cast iron with cooking spray, set aside. Chop green onions, set aside. Chop most of the pepperonis, but leave 12-14 pepperonis whole, set aside.
  2. In a medium size bowl, mix together cream cheese, sour cream, garlic powder, and crushed red pepper until fully combined. Use a spatula to spread cream cheese mixture evenly over the bottom of the prepared cast iron skillet.
  3. Pour marinara over the top of the cream cheese mixture, and use a spatula to spread marinara evenly over the top. Then, top the marinara with chopped pepperoni and 1/4 cup chopped green onion. Bake for 10 minutes, and remove the cast iron from the oven.
  4. Sprinkle Italian cheese, chopped bacon, and parmesan cheese evenly over the top of the dip. Return the cast iron to the oven, and bake for an additional 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted. Broil the dip for 2-3 minutes or until the outer edges are bubbling. Remove the dip from the oven, and top it with the remaining green onion. Serve immediately with corn chips or crostinis.
